Cordoba C.F. vs Granada CF preview - Caparros calls for confidence

Granada boss Joaquin Caparros has called for his side to play with "intensity and confidence" when they travel to fellow strugglers Cordoba in Monday's Primera Division clash at Estadio Nuevo Arcangel.

Granada occupy 18th and the final relegation spot in the table, but sit just two points behind Levante, while Cordoba are bottom after registering just one win all season.

The visitors' league form has been abysmal with their last victory coming in September, albeit against last season's champions, Atletico Madrid.

Caparros is desperate for his side to arrest their slide down the table, and despite acknowledging the importance of the clash, refused to describe it as do or die.

"There are still many points to play for," he said in his pre-match press conference. "Surely there are others who are going to get drawn into the pack.

"I want us to play with intensity and confidence, we must get the win that is badly needed.

"We've trained with good intensity, which is normal from a team who are willing to break the streak."

If Granada are to get that much-needed win they will have to do so without Nigerian striker Isaac Success who has yet to return to the club after the Christmas break.

Cordoba have had a rotten campaign to date, but their boss Miroslav Djukic is no mood to be too hard on his players, whose only win came against Athletic Bilbao three league games ago.

"The team is good, no complaints about attitude," he said in his pre-match press conference.

"We face a very physical team who have speed. There is no time and we have to win games to leave the position we are in.

"We know they are a good team and we have to be at our best from the first minute. We must encourage the fans to support and encourage, but we have to give something first."
