Getafe vs Rayo Vallecano preview - Vazquez: Getafe remain focused

Getafe forward Alvaro Vazquez has promised that his side will not become distracted by the continuing uncertainty surrounding the club's managerial position.
Coach Cosmin Contra remains in charge of the Madrid club and is expected to be in the dugout for the visit of Primera Division rivals Rayo Vallecano on Sunday, despite being heavily linked with a move to Chinese club Guangzhou R&F.
Guangzhou have already confirmed the signing of midfielder Michel Herrero from Getafe and are expected to name Contra as their new boss imminently.
However, Vazquez insists his side have remained focused on footballing matters ever since speculation about the pair's departure began.
"We have remained unmoved by this situation, the group is dealing with it really well, we are leaving it to one side and continuing to work with enthusiasm," the striker told a press conference, quoted by Marca.
Vazquez also confirmed that Contra will take charge of the team against Rayo.
"I still don't know if he's leaving or not. He will be at Sunday's game. He and Michel have behaved like professionals in light of this situation, which has been going on for a while now."
Getafe have drawn each of their last three league matches and go into Sunday's derby level on points with Rayo.
"We are playing well at the moment and we'll be up against a tough opponent in Rayo, a difficult team that press you high up the pitch and always make things hard for you," added Vazquez on Paco Jemez's side, who won last season's fixture 1-0.
"We have been working hard towards this game and we are very focused on winning. It's a special game because it's a derby and we are going to try to get a good result.
"We are happy with the work we are doing and we are only focused on winning, not on what might happen after the game."
Vazquez has started just four matches this term but is set for a place in the line-up against Rayo due to the absence of forwards Angel Lafita and Baba Diawara.
Lafita will miss the rest of the season after tearing the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee in the 1-1 draw at Granada before the Christmas break, while Diawara has just undergone surgery to treat a hip injury.
But despite these injury setbacks, Vazquez is confident his team will continue to pick up points, declaring: "Us three strikers have all had to have operations this season but the team has always responded."
Rayo, meanwhile, have no fresh injury concerns.
