Greenock Morton 0 : 1 Airdrie United - Lister sinks Morton

Posted Sunday, January 04, 2015 by PA

Morton missed the chance to move up to second in Scottish League One as James Lister's goal handed Airdrie a 1-0 victory.

Airdrie had two excellent chances to open the scoring in the opening 24 minutes, Morton's unnamed trialist producing saves to deny Ben Richards-Everton and Nathan Blockley.

The goalkeeper was unable to keep out Lister's effort two minutes after half-time, though, the striker converting Blockley's cross from close range to notch his fifth goal of the season.

The hosts almost salvaged a point in the 62nd minute but Declan McManus' right-footed effort cannoned back off the crossbar.

The victory extends Airdrie's unbeaten streak to five matches, moving them four points off the play-offs.
