Alan Trouten netted his ninth goal of the season as Brechin extended their unbeaten run to nine league matches with a 2-0 victory at second-placed Forfar.

The visitors opened the scoring in the 13th minute when Jamie Masson found the top corner from the centre of the penalty area.

Goalkeeper Robert Douglas ensured his side stayed just a goal behind by producing saves to deny Andrew Jackson twice, Robert Barr and Craig Wighton.

Michael Dunlop almost levelled for Forfar, heading over from close range, before Trouten put the game to bed nine minutes from time by converting Wighton's pass.

Defeat for Forfar leaves them three points behind leaders Stranraer while Brechin moved level with fourth-placed Dunfermline, who occupy the final play-off place.
