York City vs Plymouth Argyle preview - De Girolamo should be fit for York

York boss Russ Wilcox is hoping to have on-loan striker Diego De Girolamo available for the home game against Plymouth.

De Girolamo, scheduled to return to parent club Sheffield United after the game, missed Sunday's win at Carlisle after pulling out of the warm-up due to a foot injury. Josh Carson is expected to start if the Italy Under-20 international fails to make it.

Goalkeeper Michael Ingham remains sidelined with a shoulder tendon injury, so Alex Cisak will start in his last match for the club before returning to parent club Burnley.

Another loanee, Middlesbrough teenager Brad Halliday, sits out the second game of his three-match ban following his straight red card in the Boxing Day win against Accrington.

Plymouth will be without suspended defender Aaron Bentley when they make one of their longest trips of the season.

The 19-year-old picked up a straight red card in the 2-1 home defeat to Oxford on Sunday and he now serves the first of his three-match suspension against the Minstermen.

There is better defensive news for John Sheridan as his captain and vice-captain are in contention. Curtis Nelson (elbow) and Peter Hartley (groin) missed the festive fixtures through injury but have returned to training.

Sheridan says the pair will be assessed ahead of kick-off.
