Wigan Athletic vs Sheffield Wed. preview - Mackay may stick

Malky Mackay could stick with a winning side when Wigan take on Sheffield Wednesday.

Mackay reverted to a three-man defence at Leeds on Saturday and was rewarded with his first victory since taking over as Latics boss.

Rob Kiernan and James Tavernier made their first appearances under Mackay in the 2-0 win and will be hoping to keep their places.

Defender Leon Barnett is set to miss out again with a hamstring problem and striker Martyn Waghorn is still building up his fitness following a shoulder injury.

Sheffield Wednesday skipper Glenn Loovens is hoping to return to contention but faces a late fitness test.

Loovens missed the Boxing Day win against Blackpool due to a hamstring injury with Christopher Dielna stepping in to replace him in central defence.

Fellow defender Kamil Zayatte returned to the substitutes' bench against Blackpool after missing over two months due to a hamstring injury and could make his first appearance since the end of September.

Right-back Lewis Buxton, also sidelined since September, is hoping to return to contention following his recovery from a knee injury.
