Charlie Lee, Tom Pett and Dean Parrett all scored in the first half as Stevenage recorded their third successive victory with a 3-2 win against Cambridge.

An action-packed first half saw Lee give Stevenage the lead after 14 minutes and, while Ryan Bird equalised eight minutes later, goals from Pett and Parrett within six of each other thereafter sunk the U's.

Cambridge did post a late fightback with striker Adam Cunnington making it 3-2 with five minutes left to play but Stevenage held on for a win that leaves them three points off the top seven.

Lee opened the scoring with a superbly-placed lob over Chris Dunn, who had raced off his line to try and collect Ryan Brunt's long ball, but Bird's close-range finish temporarily made it 1-1.

Lee turned provider for Stevenage's second as his cross found Pett unmarked and Dunn could only palm his volley into the top corner after the half-hour before Parrett fired into the same place from outside the area.

Parrett tried his luck from range again in the 68th minute to no avail while Cunnington made things awkward with a late near-post header but there was to be no equaliser.
