Hartlepool United FC 0 - 2 Morecambe - Redshaw heaps misery on Pools

A double from Morecambe's Jack Redshaw consigned struggling Hartlepool to another defeat as the Shrimps won 2-0 at Victoria Park.

Pools are now eight points from safety at the foot of Sky Bet League Two while the Shrimps boosted their push for a play-off place.

Pools were missing Marlon Harewood, who was starting a three-match ban after his red card in the Boxing Day draw at Mansfield.

The home side lacked his physical presence up front as young strikers Joe Ironside and Scott Fenwick struggled to impose themselves.

It was a slow start for Pools, with Morecambe pressing high up the pitch.

Jim Bentley's side took a deserved lead in the 22nd minute after referee Darren Drysdale's decision to play an advantage in the centre circle.

The ball fell to Redshaw who curled the ball in from 20 yards to give the visitors a deserved half-time lead.

Struggling Pools couldn't break down a stubborn Shrimps defence after the break and were made to pay when Redshaw scored his second of the match in the 81st minute.

Morecambe caught Moore's side on the break and Redshaw combined with Kevin Ellison before tucking home the second to seal victory.
