Tranmere Rovers - Northampton Town preview - Ridehalgh missing for Rovers
Posted Saturday, December 27, 2014 by PA
Tranmere will be without full-back Liam Ridehalgh against Northampton.
The defender was dismissed in the loss to Burton - much to manager Micky Adams' dismay - and will now serve a suspension, leaving Rovers short of options at the back.
Josh Thompson (hamstring) was pulled off at half-time as a precaution and should be fine but Danny Woodards (foot), Michael Ihiekwe (ankle) and Matt Hill (Achilles) are all out.
First-team coach Chris Shuker came off the bench to make his first appearance of the season on Boxing Day and may be in the squad again.
Northampton have no fresh injury worries after the defeat to Bury on Boxing Day but Ivan Toney is suspended.
John-Joe O'Toole made his comeback in the 3-2 defeat, coming on for the final half-hour after he was recalled from a loan spell.
Toney misses the game through suspension after being sent off for his part in a scuffle and manager Chris Wilder has ruled out an appeal after admitting he did not see the incident.
Zander Diamond returned to action at the heart of a three-man defence and is likely to retain his place after three months out.
