Falkirk 0 : 1 Raith Rovers - Conroy stuns Bairns

Posted Sunday, December 28, 2014 by PA

Ryan Conroy scored with 12 minutes to go as Raith completed a smash-and-grab 1-0 victory at Falkirk.

The Bairns had missed a host of chances to take the lead but failed to make the breakthrough and Conroy's late tap-in handed down the ultimate punishment.

How Peter Houston's men came away with nothing is something of a mystery as they dominated from the off and missed a great double chance to take the lead midway through the first half when Rory Loy was denied by David McGurn's legs, with Blair Alston putting the rebound wide.

Loy had another chance before the break, firing straight at the keeper, though Raith could have led when a rare attack saw Ross Callachan's deflected shot hit the post.

The decisive moment came in the 78th minute when Conroy converted Rory McKeown's cross at the far post.

The visitors did have a late scare when a scrambling McGurn cleared off the line from Jason Thomson's miscued clearance, but they survived.
