Cowdenbeath 1 : 3 Dumbarton - O'Brien off in Sons success

Thomas O'Brien saw red as Cowdenbeath slipped to a 3-1 defeat at home to Dumbarton.

Cowdenbeath were already trailing and their hopes of a comeback were ended in the 72nd minute when the 23-year-old pulled down Christopher Kane when he was through on goal.

Colin Nish had given the visitors a 36th-minute lead with a precise finish into the far corner after cutting in from the left, albeit against the run of play.

Cowdenbeath pushed for an equaliser and it eventually came when Craig Sutherland tapped in from Jon Robertson's cross after 66 minutes.

They were level for just two minutes though and, after Kane hit the crossbar, Lee Mair headed in from a corner to quickly restore the lead before O'Brien was sent off.

Garry Fleming then curled in the resulting free-kick to double Dumbarton's advantage and secure their third win in four games.
