Cowdenbeath vs Dumbarton preview - Cowdenbeath without Gallagher

Cowdenbeath look set to be without on-loan Rangers striker Calum Gallagher against Dumbarton due to an ankle injury.

Long-term absentees John Armstrong (ankle), Dean Brett (foot), Sammy Stewart (groin) and Kenny Adamson (foot) continue to be out with manager Jimmy Nicholl looking for his men to shrug off their defeat to Hearts on Tuesday.

Nicholl said: "We lost but we played well so we can go into this game with confidence.

"If we win we move to within two points of Dumbarton and that is a great incentive. They are a good side, who we have not beaten in a while, so it would be good to change that."

The Sons head east minus Mark McLaughlin, who has back injury, and Jordan Kirkpatrick who has a hip problem.

Manager Ian Murray is hopeful that Mark Gilhaney will be available after a knock as his side look to pull away from their hosts in the battle to avoid relegation issues.

Murray said: "We have the chance to be involved in the play-offs at the top end of the table and winning this game helps us towards that.

"It would also create a healthier gap on Cowdenbeath, which would mean that we could start looking up the way without also having to look down as well."
