Wycombe Wanderers 1 : 1 Luton Town - Wycombe held by Hatters

Posted Saturday, December 27, 2014 by PA

Jonathan Smith's immediate response saw Wycombe surrender top spot as Luton came from behind to draw 1-1 at Adams Park.

Smith volleyed home an equaliser for the Hatters moments after Paris Cowan-Hall's diving header had put Wycombe ahead in the third minute for his fifth goal in as many matches.

Wycombe got off to the perfect start when in-form Cowan-Hall headed home Joe Jacobson's corner.

However, Michael Harriman's cross into the box was cleared but Smith controlled it beautifully and unleashed a volley across goalkeeper Matt Ingram and into the top left-hand corner.

The weather soon deteriorated and the quality of the pitch also played a part in what was ended as a scrappy end-to-end game with both Luton and Wycombe having chances for victory.

The best opportunity fell to Luton midfielder Andy Drury with his shot from near point-blank range kept out superbly by Ingram.
