Posted Saturday, December 27, 2014 by PA

Bury ended a run of seven games without a win as they came from behind to beat Northampton 3-2, with both sides finishing with 10 men.

Northampton took a sixth minute lead when Stewart Murdoch found Ivan Toney who crossed for Marc Richards to beat Rob Lainton.

Andrew Tutte put Bury back on level terms on the half-hour mark, beating Matt Duke from 25 yards despite the keeper getting a hand to the ball.

Substitute Ryan Lowe glanced a header wide as Bury got on top and the Shakers took the lead on the stroke of half-time when Tutte's corner went all the way through to the far post where it was headed home by Tom Soares.

Danny Mayor increased Bury's lead in the 57th minute after being picked out by Lowe before Toney and Hayden White got straight red cards for a skirmish off the pitch in the 64th minute.

Substitute John-Joe O'Toole tested Lainton before another replacement, Chris Hackett, reduced the arrears in the 77th minute directly from an inswinging corner which eluded Lainton.

Ben Tozer headed wide in stoppage-time but Bury held on for a welome win.
