York City vs Accrington Stanley preview - Same again for Wilcox

Posted Wednesday, December 24, 2014 by PA

York boss Russ Wilcox could name an unchanged starting line-up to face Accrington as his side chase their first home win of the season.

The Minstermen are bidding to avoid equalling a club record of 14 home games without a win, while Wilcox has no major new injuries or suspensions to contend with.

York hit back from two goals down to draw 2-2 at Bury last week and Wilcox is not expected to tinker with his line-up. On-loan teenager Brad Halliday is hoping to resume at right-back in place of Marvin McCoy.

Another loanee, Sheffield United's Diego De Girolamo, is likely to start again alongside Wes Fletcher and Jake Hyde as Wilcox retains a three-pronged strikeforce.

Accrington will have to replace John O'Sullivan and Sean Maguire in their line-up.

Blackburn loanee O'Sullivan has returned to his parent club at the culmination of his spell with Stanley and Piero Mingoia is the prime candidate to come back into the XI.

Striker Maguire is back at West Ham and while a return to east Lancashire could be on the cards, he will not be allowed to move back again until the window reopens.

Goalkeeper Jack Rose has returned to West Brom to get a hip injury assessed so Luke Simpson is likely to continue between the sticks.
