Greenock Morton 0 : 1 Peterhead - Stevenson strike sinks Morton

Posted Sunday, December 21, 2014 by PA

James Stevenson scored early in the second half as Peterhead edged past Morton 1-0 at Cappielow Park.

The visitors came close to an early lead but for a fantastic save from Morton goalkeeper Derek Gaston to deny Mark Millar.

Gaston then had to be alert to keep out Rory McAllister's header before Blue Toon keeper Graeme Smith did well to save from Joe Scullion at the opposite end.

Smith twice did well to deny Jamie McCluskey and Declan McManus in what was an open first-half contest.

But it was the Blue Toon who took the lead immediately after the restart, Stevenson firing a crisp effort low into the corner of the goal.

Stevenson could have added further gloss in the final minutes but his free-kick was well handled by the impressive Gaston.
