Queen of South 1 : 2 Cowdenbeath - Higgins the hero for Cowdenbeath

Posted Sunday, December 21, 2014 by PA

Sean Higgins' injury-time strike earned Cowdenbeath a valuable 2-1 victory at Queen of the South.

Queen's started the match brightly and a stunning strike from John Baird was kept out by an equally impressive diving save from Robbie Thomson.

It was the visitors who took the lead just before half-time as Callum Gallagher kept his cool to slot past Zander Clark.

Higgins was denied by Clark as Cowdenbeath pressed for a second, while at the other end a free-kick from Ian McShane rattled the woodwork.

The home side thought they had rescued a point when Derek Lyle headed home in the 86th minute.

But Cowdenbeath were not to be denied as Kyle Miller played in Higgins and he got the better of Clark one-on-one.
