Forfar Athletic 1 : 1 Airdrie United - Dunlop rescues Forfar

Posted Sunday, December 21, 2014 by PA

Michael Dunlop rescued a point for Forfar but they surrendered top spot in League One following a 1-1 draw with Airdrie.

The visitors almost took an instant lead but for a fine save from Robert Douglas to deny Bryan Prunty inside the first three minutes of the match.

Prunty went closer still midway through the half but again Douglas was in fine form to keep his effort out.

But the Diamonds did take the lead just before the hour mark when Patrick Boyle found the bottom corner with a well-placed finish.

They were unlucky not to be further ahead moments later, when Prunty's well-struck effort from distance came back off the crossbar with Douglas well beaten.

However, they could not hold out for all three points as Dunlop headed home from Gavin Malin's cross with nine minutes to go.
