Stade Rennais FC vs Stade Reims preview - Vasseur warns against complacency

Reims coach Jean-Luc Vasseur has warned his side against complacency as they look to go into the Christmas break on a high.

Last week's victory over Evian lifted the club into 10th place in Ligue 1 and a win at Rennes on Saturday would see them move level with their seventh-placed opponents.

However, the odds appear to be against them as they have failed to win 13 of their last 14 away league matches and have not won in the league at the Stade de la Route de Lorient since 1959.

"The mistake would be to think that we are already on holiday and think we have nothing to lose, because we made a good result against Evian," Vasseur told the French media at his pre-match press conference.

"If by chance we had that chance to win, it would add a little to the story because it's a long time since the club has won there in the league.

"This is the great task that remains to be done. We are all concerned about this match and fully focused 100 per cent on this one.

"We need to have the capability to take at least one point off Rennes."

Rennes have lost the last two in the league, although a midweek cup win over Creteil helped restore some confidence.

If Rennes were to win on Saturday they would reach 31 points at the Christmas break, 10 more than last season.

"This would mean that it is going well and that we have clearly improved," said coach Philippe Montanier.
