Blackburn Rovers vs Charlton Athletic preview - King set for Rovers return

Josh King has handed Blackburn a festive fillip by returning to fitness ahead of Charlton's visit.

The Norway international has been plagued by a back problem which has caused him to miss 10 first-team games, yet boss Gary Bowyer expects the winger to come into his thinking this weekend.

Midfielder Tom Cairney is rated as 50-50 with a minor ankle complaint while Rovers expect to have Matt Kilgallon (knee), Chris Taylor (illness) and Chris Brown (knee) back in the fold.

That leaves only Tommy Spurr (groin) on the sidelines and Bowyer is hopeful he can be included in the coming weeks too.

Charlton are set to be unchanged despite only managing a 2-2 draw against bottom club Blackpool last time out.

Nick Pope continues in goal despite his errors against the Seasiders with first-choice keeper Stephen Henderson not quite ready to return from a shoulder injury.

Left-back Rhoys Wiggins is still out with a foot injury and skipper Johnnie Jackson remains sidelined by a calf problem.

Striker Simon Church is also unavailable as he recovers from a dislocated shoulder while winger Franck Moussa has a knee injury.
