Port Vale vs Coventry preview - Nimely primed for Vale bow

Recent signing Alex Nimely could be named in the Port Vale squad for the visit of Coventry.

Nimely, who came through the youth ranks at Manchester City and had a loan spell with the Sky Blues, has not even played a reserve-team game since joining the Valiants on a free transfer on November 27. He was ruled out of last week's second-string game against Morecambe with a thigh strain.

However, the 23-year-old striker has impressed Rob Page in training and the Vale boss is keen to get him involved in the first team - possibly against his former club.

Michael O'Connor will serve a one-match suspension after receiving his fifth yellow card of the season at Gillingham, joining fellow midfielder Chris Lines, who will serve the second game of a three-match ban, on the sidelines.

Coventry expect captain Reda Johnson to shake off a knock for the trip to Vale Park.

Aaron Martin is available after being cup-tied for Coventry's Johnstone's Paint Trophy defeat at Bristol City in midweek.

Jordan Willis replaced him after a hamstring injury and could retain his place.

Danny Pugh is back in training after an ankle injury but is unlikely to be fit after being sidelined for weeks.
