Queen of the South vs Rangers preview - Paton back for Doonhamers

Queen of the South welcome back Michael Paton as they host a Rangers side that sit directly above them in the Championship table.

Paton has been sidelined since July with a hamstring problem, but injuries continue to rule out Chris Mitchell (back), Paul Burns (knee) and Stephen McKenna (foot).

Payer-manager James Fowler said: "Rangers are a side full of good players and a lot of them have international experience. They beat Kilmarnock 3-0 recently and whilst their last two games have not been as impressive that one showed just how good they can be.

"We will enjoy the occasion and have players that can hurt Rangers if we get the chance."

Rangers defender Lee Wallace returns for Ally McCoist's men.

The left-back missed three games with an ankle knock but should feature at Palmerston.

Lewis Macleod, however, faces another two weeks on the sidelines after suffering a grade-one hamstring tear at Alloa last week.

Defender Marius Zaliukas is nearing a return after six weeks out with a knee injury, while keeper Cammy Bell has resumed light training following shoulder surgery.
