COME ON BLUES: The footie star has met with the PM and the Chancellor

The Manchester City ace, who is heading to play in America in the new year to finish his career, fancies his chances as a Tory MP.

He has issued a “come and get me” plea to top Conservatives as he considers life after the beautiful game.

Former England and Chelsea star Lamps, 36, has met with both Prime Minister David Cameron and Chancellor George Osborne.

And although he “doesn’t agree with everything they say” he thinks they will romp to victory in May’s general election.

“I have met David Cameron a couple of times and George Osborne - I have a lot of respect for them,” he said.

“And quite a few Labour ones I have respect for too, like Ed Balls, who is big into his football.

“I will certainly vote and certainly pay more attention going into this election than I have before.”

Lampard is known in the game for being an outspoken brain-box.

When he had his IQ tested in 2009 he scored a whopping 150 points - which only one in every 2,300 people get.

But the midfielder says he is not the only clever footballer, insisting his fellow players are not as thick as everyone thinks.

He said: “It’s a very easy stereotype, it really annoys me.

“Basically a dressing room is a group of lads from across the spectrum. It’s a complete demographic, like in banking or on a building site.”

Frank says he has met lawyers who do not strike him as clever, yet “it’s a blanket thrown over all footballers”.

He is not the first footballer to consider heading into Westminster.

Fellow former Three Lions star Sol Campbell, 40, revealed in October he was considering joining the Tories as an ambassador, paving the way for a seat in Parliament.
