Olympiacos vs Malmo preview - Malmo threat to Olympiacos hopes

Malmo boss Age Hareide believes his side are facing Champions League Group A rivals Olympiacos at the perfect time, with their Greek opponents coming off two poor results in their domestic competition.

Olympiacos have dominated the Superleague in recent years, winning the title nine times in the last 10 years, but Michel's side currently sit second after a 2-2 home draw with mid-table PAS Giannina.

That draw came off the back of a defeat to leaders PAOK at the Karaiskakis Stadium, although those results are in stark contrast to their Champions League form in Athens.

Victories over the supposed superior sides in the group, Juventus and Atletico Madrid, have given Olympiacos a chance of qualification, and victory over Malmo coupled with an Atletico win in Turin will see Michel's men through with the Spanish side.

However, Malmo have aspirations of their own, with a Europa League place theirs at the expense of Olympiacos, if they come out victorious in the Greek capital.

"We have an exciting task ahead of us. We have everything to gain, while they have everything to lose, which is perfect for us," Hareide told the club's official website.

"They drew 2-2 yesterday in their home game and even lost at home earlier in the week. Olympiacos have a habit of losing a home game in the Champions League every year and it feels like it's about time they get their loss coming Tuesday."

Malmo will be without Erik Johansson for the game after he was sent off against Juventus in their last match, while for the home side Serbian midfielder Luka Milivojevic is out with a knee injury but Alejandro Dominguez could play some part in the game.

Michel is irked by his side's draw at the weekend and has demanded a better performance on Tuesday.

"We have put in a bad display," he said in his post-match press conference. "I will not comment on whether we deserve the result.

"We showed weaknesses and a team like Olympiacos does not deserve this picture. The opposing team made three shots, scored two goals and the second we conceded from counter-attack.

"This shows that we were not in the game, we did not get into the game."

For midfielder Pajtim Kasami it is a match they must try to forget.

He said: "We had a bad result but must look ahead to the game on Tuesday, concentrate on it, the victory is all that counts."
