Scunthorpe United 1 - 1 Worcester City - Worcester hold Scunny

Non-league minnows Worcester booked their place in the third round draw of the FA Cup after coming from behind to draw 1-1 at Scunthorpe.

The Conference North side, who knocked out Coventry in round one, found their feet in the second half after struggling in the first.

They adopted a robust approach in the early stages as Scunthorpe were unable to get into their stride.

Worcester conceded a series of free-kicks and it was from one of those, in the 35th minute, that Scunthorpe opened the scoring.

Miguel Llera's deflected effort from the edge of the box was touched onto underside of the bar by Nathan Vaughan and when the ball came down it was leading marksman Paddy Madden who reacted quickest to force it home from close range for his 10th goal of the season.

It was one of the few efforts at goal in a dour first half in which Worcester offered little threat up front.

But the picture changed dramatically in the opening minute of the second half when striker Daniel Nti lashed home an equaliser from close range after the home defence had failed to deal with a left-wing cross.

Suddenly the game came alive, with chances at both ends.

Mike Symons missed a good opportunity to put Worcester ahead when he fired over from 12 yards after a mistake by home keeper Sam Slocombe.

Then striker Billy Kee, making his first start for Scunthorpe, steered his shot wide with the goal at his mercy after keeper Vaughan had half stopped an angled drive by substitiute Hakeeb Adelukan.

But it was Worcester who grew in confidence and were full value for the replay they have earned at home.
