Dunfermline secured a fifth Scottish League One home win of the season when beating Ayr United 4-2 in an entertaining encounter at East End Park.

Andy Stirling put the Pars in front after 19 minutes when firing in a right-foot shot and Allan Smith soon made it two after charging down goalkeeper David Hutton.

Scott McLaughlin pulled one back for the Honest Men when finding the top-right corner with a sweetly-struck shot from outside the box but Shaun Byrne replied in kind with another fine effort for Dunfermline after half an hour.

Ayr responded again through an Alan Forrest shot after 56 minutes, but Dunfermline were back in control almost immediately as Smith added his second.
