Bordeaux vs Lorient preview - Sagnol pleased with Bordeaux spirit

Willy Sagnol has hailed the team spirit at Bordeaux as they seek a win at home to Lorient which would further strengthen their Champions League credentials.

Les Girondins go into the weekend programme sixth but only two points behind Lyon in third.

Their home form has been excellent so far, with five wins and two draws from their seven Ligue 1 matches to date at the Stade Chaban-Delmas, and Sagnol senses the mood in the camp is good.

He told the club's official website: "The state of mind has been one of the certainties of our season. My players have a very good frame of mind.

"They work very hard. There has been a lot of rotation up to now, either by choice or forced upon us. All the players are ready to meet the challenge of Ligue 1."

They come up against a Lorient side enjoying a good period of form, with two wins and a draw from their last three matches. The Breton club sit 16th, three points above the three sides in the relegation zone heading into Saturday night's match.

Sagnol added: "Lorient were in trouble several weeks ago but they have been able to redress the balance. It will be difficult to play against them because they have gained in confidence by achieving a good draw against Marseille."

A muscular injury is set to keep Tiago Ilori sidelined for Bordeaux for at least one more week. Bordeaux come into the game on the back of a goalless draw at Metz in midweek where goalkeeper Cedric Carrasso saved a late Florent Malouda penalty.
