Hartlepool vs Blyth Spartans preview - Trio missing for Pools

Hartlepool will be without cup-tied trio Matty Dolan, Scott Fenwick and Joe Ironside for their home FA Cup second-round tie against Blyth Spartans.

Bradford midfielder Dolan, fellow loanee Ironside, from Sheffield United, and striker Fenwick, signed recently from Dunstan, must all sit out the clash but on-loan defender Matteo Lanzoni has been given permission to play by Cambridge.

Right-back Michael Duckworth (groin) is expected to miss out again and midfielder Tommy Miller (calf) remains sidelined after a setback in his recovery.

Winger Jack Compton is ahead of schedule following knee surgery and has returned to training but is not likely to be included in manager Paul Murray's plans.

Spartans manager Tom Wade could hand a late fitness test to striker Daniel Maguire, who was withdrawn as a precaution during last weekend's win against Witton Albion.

Former Pools players Stephen Turnbull and Nathan Buddle, plus midfielder Damen Mullen, who was released from the academy at Victoria Park, are all expected to start for the Evo-Stick North Premier side.

Goalkeeper Peter Jeffries is another Blyth player with added incentive as he used to be a season-ticket holder at Hartlepool.

Wade's men booked their place in the second round by beating Conference Premier side Altrincham 4-1.
