Manchester United boss Van Gaal sweating over Rooney knee scan
Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal has revealed Wayne Rooney will undergo a scan on a knee injury he picked up against Hull as he missed their 2-1 win over Stoke City.

The England forward suffered knocks to his knee and calf at Old Trafford on Saturday but, despite the initial prognosis being good, Rooney was unable to face the Potters on Tuesday night.

And now Van Gaal, who is also without Angel di Maria, is sweating on the results of his striker’s scan.

Asked why Rooney was absent, he replied: “It’s a knee [problem] but we have to wait for tomorrow to see if there is anything wrong with him because you never know with the knee.

"In my opinion it’s not too [bad] but I’m not a doctor so we have to wait for the scan and then we will know more. I hope it’s not so [bad].

And when asked about the prospect of Daley Blind returning to action in the near future, Van Gaal added: “I think at the end of December maybe we will see light at the end of the tunnel.”
