Edgar Barreto created his team's first goal and scored the second before being sent off as Palermo secured a 2-1 home victory over 10-man Parma on Sunday.
Barreto set up Paulo Dybala for the hosts' opener in the 37th minute, only for Raffaele Palladino of bottom side Parma to equalise shortly after.
Barretto netted the winner in the 73rd minute with a free-kick that beat Parma goalkeeper Alessandro Iacobucci and was almost certainly intended as a cross.
Parma's hopes of pulling level were hindered after defender Felipe was sent off with 10 minutes remaining for a pair of yellow-card offences.
Palermo also ended the game with just 10 men when Barreto was shown a second yellow card in stoppage time.
The outcome gave Palermo a fourth win of the campaign and lifted them to 12th in the Serie A standings while Parma lost for the 11th time in their 13 games this season. They are five points adrift of safety.
The home side dominated early possession but Parma had the first effort on goal midway through the first half.
Antonio Cassano fed Stefan Ristovski in the box and his right-footed shot towards the near post was saved by Palermo goalkeeper Stefano Sorrentino.
At the other end, Luca Rigoni's header from Achraf Lazaar's cross went just wide.
Palermo took the lead from a smart free-kick move. Barreto, the recipient of a low pass to the edge of the penalty area, advanced the ball to Dybala in the heart of the area and his shot beat Iacobucci.
The hosts' joy was shortlived as Parma levelled matters in the 40th minute.
A fast break saw Cassano set up Palladino and he chipped the ball past Sorrentino, who had sprinted to the edge of his penalty area.
Parma wasted a good chance to go in front before the hour mark when Francesco Lodi found Cassano in the area and his effort went over the bar.
In the 70th minute, Iacobbuci made a good save to clear Giancarlo Gonzalez's attempt from 12 yards.
Palermo went in front three minutes later when Barreto's powerful free-kick from the left flank curled over everyone and went in off the far post.
For Parma it was the 32nd goal they have conceded in this campaign.
The visitors suffered a further blow when Felipe was handed his marching orders following a late challenge on Dybala, before Barreto followed him down the tunnel.
