Colchester United 0 : 1 Coventry - Sky Blues up and running on road

Gary Madine's second-half strike secured Coventry their first away league win of the season after they claimed a 1-0 victory at Colchester.

Frank Nouble squandered a great chance to give Coventry a seventh-minute lead when he fluffed a weak effort straight at U's goalkeeper Sam Walker.

George Moncur's rising shot whistled just past a post for Colchester midway through the first half, while Sanchez Watt's free-kick was heading in until Coventry goalkeeper Ryan Allsop pushed it over.

Nouble scuffed a shot wide just before half-time, while in the opening stages of the second half, Gavin Massey could only fire over the crossbar after he had burst into the area and latched on to Moncur's clever pass.

Coventry defender Reda Johnson failed to connect with Madine's far-post header with the goal at his mercy before Madine struck with 16 minutes remaining when he scrambled home from five yards, after Walker had initially denied substitute Danny Swanson.

Walker thwarted Ryan Haynes late on but Coventry's single goal proved enough to win a tight contest.
