Stranraer 1 : 0 Airdrie United - Stirling spot on for Stranraer
Posted Sunday, November 23, 2014 by PA
Stephen Stirling scored the only goal of the game as Stranraer edged out Airdrie 1-0 to extend their unbeaten league run to 10 matches.
It took almost 40 minutes for the hosts to record the first shot on target of the match, Jackson Longridge testing Andy McNeil from distance.
And the second half looked to be following suit until Marc Fitzpatrick fouled Daniel Stoney inside the penalty area.
Stirling duly converted from the penalty spot before Craig Malcolm came close to adding a second but for a fine stop from McNeil.
Stoney almost doubled the advantage but his effort came back off a post after McNeil had failed to hold on to his initial effort.
The visitors looked to respond through Liam Watt but he failed to hit the target in the final minute as the Blues held on for all three points.
