Sheffield United vs Oldham Athletic AFC preview - McCarthy back from Blades ban

Sheffield United's on-loan defender Paddy McCarthy returns to contention for the home game against Oldham following suspension.

The Crystal Palace centre-half sat out the midweek FA Cup win against Crewe after his dismissal in the derby win at Doncaster last weekend.

Blades boss Nigel Clough could also recall new teenage striker Che Adams to the squad as he was ineligible on Tuesday night.

Midfielder James Wallace remains doubtful due to the groin/hamstring problems that have dogged him throughout the first half of the season.

Genseric Kusunga and Carl Winchester could return to Oldham's XI.

Defender Kusunga has been away on international duty with Angola, while midfielder Winchester was only an unused substitute last Saturday having been in Romania with Northern Ireland on Friday night.

George Elokobi is being eased back into training with his thigh problem, while club captain and fellow centre-back Adam Lockwood recently sustained a knee injury, although it is not thought to be serious.

Young forward Rhys Turner has suffered another hamstring setback and goalkeeper Joel Coleman (knee) remains out, but Amari Morgan-Smith should return soon.
