The Irish Mirror have spoken to Frank Gillespie, the man who was involved in the incident with Roy Keane last week, and gotten his version of events.
Keane refused to speak about the incident today, which saw Gillespie taken to hospital after an alleged altercation with the Ireland Number 2.
Gillespie claims Keane pushed him backwards, causing him to fall over a table.
"He kept telling me to 'get up'. But I wasn't able, I was terrified of him."
"He was my idol, I idolised this man."
"He cannot walk up to one of the best Ireland fans in the last 25 years and treat them like that."
"It is not about Roy Keane or Frank Gillespie – I will still have my flag out for the boys."
This version contradicts the version provided by the FAI, which has exonerated Keane of all wrongdoing.
Granted, a push can hardly be described as 'assault', it's still not something that can be defended – even if Keane was provoked.
Ah yes, because Gillespie has conveniently forgotten to add the reason for the push he claims – as several versions claim Gillespie ripped pages of the book out, right in Keane's face.
