Crewe vs Chesterfield preview - Haber blow for Crewe

Posted Friday, November 14, 2014 by PA

Crewe's leading scorer Marcus Haber is away on international duty and will miss the home fixture against Chesterfield.

The Canada striker cannot feature for the Alex in next Tuesday's FA Cup replay against Sheffield United either, but boss Steve Davis does have on-loan pair Danny Haynes and Febian Brandy available again to bolster his attacking options.

Teenager James Jones is away with Scotland Under-19s, but fellow midfielder Ollie Turton is expected to overcome a hamstring ailment while Swansea loanee Alan Tate (groin) is fine having returned back to south Wales for treatment.

Liam Nolan (ankle) is edging closer to a return to training, but captain Matt Tootle may not be ready for competitive action following his illness and forward Ryan Colclough (hernia) is targeting a Christmas comeback.

Chesterfield have no fresh injury worries.

Gary Roberts returned from a fortnight off with hamstring problems to score in last week's FA Cup thrashing of Braintree.

On-loan midfielder Oscar Gobern was not given permission to play in that game and will not feature here after returning to Huddersfield a week earlier than scheduled.

Drew Talbot, Sam Hird and Georg Margreitter are all still a few weeks away from returning.
