Cambridge United 2 : 1 Northampton Town - Bird completes Cambridge comeback

Cambridge won a third consecutive home game, beating Northampton 2-1 to extend their opponents' away run to four successive defeats.
Ivan Toney gave the visitors the lead five minutes into the second half, nodding beyond Chris Dunn from close range after Chris Hackett's cross from the right, but the home side restored parity within two minutes.
Forward Adam Cunnington, recalled after spending nearly three months on loan at Conference side Bristol Rovers earlier in the week, arrived beyond the back post to head home Liam Hughes' corner to score his first Football League goal.
The comeback was complete 11 minutes from the end when Kwesi Appiah pulled the ball back across the area for substitute Ryan Bird, who drilled an unstoppable first-time finish into the bottom corner.
Northampton had just come close to taking the lead themselves, Dunn making an excellent tip-over stop to deny Gregor Robertson. Ben Tozer then missed from two yards in the final minute of injury time.
The result lifts Cambridge to within a point of the play-offs.
