Major respect to Arsenal playmaker Mesut Ozil!
The German playmaker may be the centre of an unseemly family row but on Wednesday night, the Arsenal star was awarded for his generosity off the pitch.
Ozil received the award in Berlin after using his World Cup bonus to pay for 23 Brazilian children to have life saving surgery.
Özil: “We had the idea to help 23 children, because we had 23 players in the squad. And they underwent surgery, which was successful. I am very thankful. The doctors did a great job. I am very happy because it goes well for the children.”
As can be seen from the Arsenal star’s Tweets, he hopes to continue supporting sick children in the future too.
The Kaiser Franz Beckenbauer was also present, he said of Ozil: “He deserved it. A nice, modest, accomplished young man. A good footballer – and that is not to his detriment.”
