STEVEN GERRARD is set to hold formal contract talks with Liverpool later this week.
TALKS: Steven Gerrard's current Liverpool contract expirres at the end of the season
The Kop skipper's current deal expires at the end of the season meaning he will be free to speak to other clubs in January.
Gerrard, 34, had a meeting with boss Brendan Rodgers recently but his representatives will now speak with club officials.
Both parties are keen to come to a swift agreement as a number of Premier League clubs monitor the situation.
The former England midfielder stated recently that he would not be retiring at the end of the season.
But he said it 'would be up to Liverpool' if he was still playing at Anfield next term.
Gerrard has been with Liverpool his whole career and to see him in another club's kit would be a huge blow for Kop fans.
