Stevenage Borough 0 : 0 Maidstone United - Stones hold Stevenage

Ryman Premier League side Maidstone claimed a deserved replay after a 0-0 draw at League Two Stevenage in the first round of the FA Cup at Broadhall Way.

The Stones made light of the gap of 55 league places between the two teams and were more than a match for their hosts with Frannie Collin almost giving them a famous victory.

Stevenage struggled to break the non-leaguers down, finally forcing Lee Worgan into action after 41 minutes when he kept out an effort by Chris Whelpdale following Tom Pett's cross.

Maidstone really impressed after the break with Matt Bodkin feeding Alex Flisher down the left and Stevenage goalkeeper Chris Day managed to fingertip his shot around the post.

The Stones then claimed close to claiming an upset when Collin got away from the Boro defence before being denied by the feet of Day.

But their hearts were twice almost broken late on with Roarie Deacon's strike from a narrow angle then Chris Beardsley's header coming off the outside of the post for Boro.
