Blyth Spartans 4 : 1 Altrincham - Dale downs Alty

Robert Dale scored twice as Blyth Spartans shocked Conference side Altrincham 4-1 to book their spot in the second round of the FA Cup.

The club's longest-serving player scored in each half, while team-mate Daniel Maguire also netted twice either side of Kyle Perry's goal for Altrincham after the break.

Spartans got off to the perfect start when Dale weaved his magic on the left side of the box where he was tripped by Shaun Densmore.

Dale sent Stuart Coburn the wrong way from the spot to maintain his record of scoring in every round.

Tom Marshall almost got the Conference strugglers level on the stroke of half-time but his 25-yard shot hit the post.

Blyth continued to call the tune after the break and doubled their lead on the hour when Maguire worked a clever one-two with Matty Wade before beating Coburn at his near post.

Altrincham briefly got back in it against the Evo-Stik Premier League side when Perry lobbed home from 22 yards on 72 minutes.

But Dale extinguished any hope for the visitors on 84 minutes when he found the bottom corner from 16 yards before Maguire again beat Coburn two minutes from time.
