Bury 3 : 1 Hemel Hempstead Town - Shakers leave it late to progress

Bury scored two late goals to book their place in the FA Cup second round with a 3-1 home win against Hemel Hempstead.

James Potton had given non-league Hemel a 10th-minute lead, only for Andrew Tutte to level six minutes later.

The Tudors then looked set to secure a replay, but their resistance was broken in the 88th minute by Bury's Nathan Cameron, before substitute Danny Nardiello sealed victory in stoppage time.

Conference south side Hemel, 61 places below Bury, caught the home side cold as Potton's 20-yard shot forced goalkeeper Rob Lainton to turn the ball wide.

Bury partially-cleared the corner, but Daniel Talbot won the ball back then fed Potton, who dinked it over Lainton from close range.

The Shakers equalised when Kelvin Etuhu's long-range shot was blocked and Tutte fired the rebound into the bottom corner from 20 yards.

Potton almost put Hemel back in front when he beat two defenders before testing Lainton again from 20 yards.

Tutte then fired wide, while Danny Rose had a header cleared off the goal-line and Danny Mayor was denied by visiting goalkeeper Laurie Walker.

It was virtually all Bury in the second half as Nardiello headed wide shortly after the restart.

Walker turned Mayor's shot wide, Nardiello blazed over and Rose turned Chris Hussey's low cross wide.

Cameron then headed over, but moments later the defender volleyed home after Hussey's cross had been knocked down.

Nardiello then headed home from a Nicky Adams cross in the closing stages to end Hemel's FA Cup adventure.
