Barnet 1 : 3 Wycombe Wanderers - Nine-man Barnet unravel in Cup

Sam Togwell was the villain as he was sent off in the first half for Barnet as Wycombe produced an FA Cup fightback to win 3-1.

Aaron Pierre and Sam Wood won it for Wycombe after the break as Barnet, who finished with nine men, finally crumbled under heavy pressure in the first-round tie.

Former Wycombe loanee John Akinde gave Barnet the lead after just three minutes, calmly rounding goalkeeper Matt Ingram following Charlie MacDonald's flick-on.

Barnet had a great chance to double their advantage 10 minutes later as Curtis Weston found himself one-on-one with Ingram, but the goalkeeper saved.

Just past the half-hour mark Wycombe equalised against the run of play through Paul Hayes' penalty, after Matt McClure had been fouled by Andy Yiadom.

In first-half stoppage time Barnet were reduced to 10 men after Togwell was dismissed following a rash challenge on Matt Bloomfield.

The momentum shifted in favour of the visitors following Togwell's sending off and they went close to taking the lead shortly after half-time as Hayes' header went narrowly wide.

The visitors did not have to wait long however, as just before the hour-mark towering defender Aaron Pierre rose highest to head home Joe Jacobson's corner.

The contest was over after 73 minutes as Wood converted from close range following good work from McClure on the right wing.

Barnet's disappointing afternoon was compounded in the 88th minute as Yiadom was sent off for a dangerous lunge on Josh Scowen.
