Eintracht Frankfurt vs Bayern Munich preview - Schaaf calm despite slump

Eintracht Frankfurt coach Thomas Schaaf is not concerned by his side's run of four straight defeats, nor by the fact that Bayern Munich are his side's next opponents.

Frankfurt have lost their way slightly in recent weeks, having made a promising start to the Bundesliga season, and have also been knocked out of the DFB-Pokal.

Given their opponents this weekend, a fifth straight defeat is quite likely, but Schaaf is maintaining his calm.

"Of course we're not happy with these results, but we're not going to let it drive us crazy," he told Kicker magazine.

"We're just making too many individual mistakes, but, given all the changes that have been made to this side, that's nothing extraordinary."

Bayern are no strangers to changes either with coach Pep Guardiola rarely fielding the same starting XI for consecutive matches, and Saturday's game will be no exception.

Defender David Alaba has been ruled out for several weeks due to a knee operation, meaning Guardiola has at least one enforced change to make compared to the side he sent onto the field for the 2-0 midweek Champions League win over Roma.

"This is really bitter for me right now," Alaba said on his club's website. "It's been going so well for me and the team lately.

"But as soon as the doctors let me after my operation, I will be back in rehabilitation and I hope that, with the help of our doctors, I will be back in action soon."

Guardiola is not short of options to replace Alaba, although a comeback for Bastian Schweinsteiger could well be a little too early.

The Germany international is back in full training, but may take advantage of the impending international break to make a full recovery from a knee injury which has sidelined him since the World Cup.
