Basingstoke Town vs AFC Telford United preview - Macklin to miss out for Basingstoke
Posted Friday, November 07, 2014 by PA
Basingstoke striker Lloyd Macklin is a major doubt for the home FA Cup clash with AFC Telford due to a hamstring injury.
Macklin was forced out of last week's home league defeat to Chelmsford late in the game and was replaced by Julian Owusu, who could be in contention to start.
Fellow striker Liam Enver-Marum remains doubtful after missing out last week through injury and boss Jason Bristow must decide whether to retain Rob Rice in defence after he replaced Nathan Smart against Chelmsford.
Former Reading winger James Harper and Andrew Jenkinson are both pushing for recalls after stepping off the bench last week.
Telford have been dealt an injury blow with Kristian Platt set to miss the tie.
Midfielder Platt suffered a hamstring injury as the Bucks crashed to a 1-0 defeat at home to Bristol Rovers last weekend.
He faces a couple of weeks out and joins skipper Steve Akrigg on the sidelines after a scan showed his hamstring injury is worse than first feared.
Fellow defender Andy Parry's loan from Luton is nearing an end but manager Liam Watson hopes to extend the deal.
