Manchester United fan says mics were muted at Etihad to drown out City fans’ anti-UEFA songs

A Machester United fan on Reddit has made an interesting post on last night’s game at the Etihad; it’s not always the most insightful place on the Internet, but in this case, the post warrants full attention, and sheds light on possible foul play from UEFA, which if true, is greatly damaging Man City’s reputation.
The United fan, who attended the Champions League game agasint CSKA because his cousin gave him a cheap ticket, has offered a possible explanation as to why the atmosphere sounded so hollow on TV.
Watching on TV, it sounded like a library, as you could almost hear the players calling for the ball, which even if the stadium weren’t full to capacity, just wouldn’t make sense; something didn’t add up.
City’s fans have been the butt of the jokes this season for their lack of Champions League support – the club have even offered 2 for 1 tickets in order to fill the Etihad – but this United fan claims the atmosphere was rocking last night – better than he’s ever seen at Old Trafford.
When he got home and saw the highlights, he couldn’t believe the difference, as he now heard what everyone else had been hearing, i.e., near total silence.
He says that a theory has since emerged that UEFA muted the mics inside the ground, in order to drown out the anti-UEFA chants City fans were singing about their Financial Fairplay punishment.
If this transpired to be true, it would be North Korea-like censorship from UEFA, muting a protest against their name to the detriment of the product.
