Cordoba C.F. vs Deportivo La Coruna preview - Djukic calls for cool heads

Miroslav Djukic called on his team to play with warm hearts and cool heads as he looks to mastermind his first victory as Cordoba coach.

The Serbian oversaw a 1-1 draw against Real Sociedad in his first game after replacing Albert Ferrer at the Primera Division basement boys' helm last month, and then watched his team go down 4-2 at Atletico Madrid last weekend.

Cordoba head into this weekend as the only winless team after 10 games in La Liga, but welcome to the Estadio Nuevo Arcangel a Deportivo La Coruna side only three points better off.

"It's a very important game against a team that is in a similar situation," Djukic was quoted as saying at his pre-match press conference on www.cordobacf.com.

"It is important to not get anxious and do well at all times, with a warm heart and a cool head.

"I want to see a Cordoba team that searches for the victory, that knows how it plays."

Depor went down 2-1 at home to Getafe last Friday night, and Djukic expects the Galicians to be keen to make amends for that loss.

"They are a quality team with very good players," he said. "They won well against Valencia (3-0 on October 19) and should be treated as a team that will come forward and look to bounce back after their last defeat.

"We face a good team, but we want to show the fans our intentions from the beginning."

Deportivo coach Victor Fernandez was wary of the effect Djukic's arrival may have on Cordoba ahead of his side's trip to Andalusia for a fixture which was part of the Segunda Division programme last term.

"They have changed their coach, they are improving their game, playing at home, and maybe that can provide a lift," he said on Marca.

Fernandez, who has doubts over midfielders Isaac Cuenca and Luis Farina, acknowledged his team would have to be prepared to scrap to retain their top-flight status.

"We have not got the ability to be in the top seven," he said. "(But) we will fight to the end to avoid relegation - the same as all the teams down there."
