Guangzhou Evergrande have announced that Fabio Cannavaro will take over from Marcello Lippi as their new head coach.
The fomer Italy captain, recently on the coaching staff of Al Ahli, replaced his former national coach Marcello Lippi, who stepped down on Sunday.
Sixty-seven-year-old Lippi will remain with the Chinese champions as a technical director, with his and Cannavro's partnership evoking memories of when they won the 2006 World Cup as a captain and coach.
Evergrande confirmed Cannavaro's first managerial appointment on their website, accompanied by photographs of the two men together
