Sheffield Wed. vs AFC Bournemouth preview - Mattock out for Owls

Sheffield Wednesday will be without Joe Mattock for the home game against Bournemouth but Stevie May is expected to overcome illness.

Defender Mattock is waiting to learn the full extent of his injury after being stretchered off during the weekend draw at Charlton with ankle ligament damage, while striker May was an unused substitute due to a virus.

Boss Stuart Gray, who has no other new injury or suspension problems, is likely to recall Claude Dielna to the starting line-up in Mattock's absence as Wednesday chase their first league win in eight matches.

The Owls have drawn five of their last six games and Gray must decide whether to hand recent loan signing Gary Taylor-Fletcher his full debut.

Bournemouth will wait on the fitness of Tommy Elphick before naming their side for the long trip.

The centre-back sustained a leg injury in the second half of Saturday evening's 3-2 win over Brighton, a result which saw the Cherries climb to second in the Championship table, and he will be assessed in the build up to kick-off.

Boss Eddie Howe could stick with the same side that made it six successive victories in all competitions but Yann Kermorgant staked his claim by netting the game's winning goal having stepped off the bench.

Howe's men have lost just once on their travels since mid-August and their last away game saw an emphatic 8-0 drubbing of Birmingham.
