Monchengladbach vs Hoffenheim preview - Record in sight for Monchengladbach

Borussia Monchengladbach can equal a club record this Sunday by avoiding defeat at home to Hoffenheim.
The Foals have gone 16 games unbeaten in all competitions so far this season and making it to 17 would match an achievement from the start of the 1970 season - a campaign in which they went on to win the Bundesliga title by two points from Bayern Munich.
"I honestly didn't know that," said coach Lucien Favre, quoted on his club's website. "All that matters, though, is that we play a good game."
Not even his 57th birthday interests the Swiss coach.
"That's not important either," he added. "What is important is the game against Hoffenheim.
"We want to pick up more points and, for that, we're going to have to perform to our best."
That is because Monchengladbach's guests also have an unbeaten record to defend at the Borussia Park Stadion this Sunday.
"Things are going well for us, I can't deny it," said Hoffenheim coach Markus Gisdol. "Our aim is to put in a good shift each game we play and we've been doing that.
"But we are a long way off seeing ourselves on a par with Gladbach."
The league table sees things differently, though.
Not only is just goal difference separating the two sides, who lie second and fourth with Wolfsburg sandwiched in between, but they are the sides currently leading the chase of league leaders Bayern Munich.
"It's good to see that my lads are not letting all this media talk of us being Bayern hunters distract them," added Gisdol, who has two doubts to resolve before picking his side on Sunday with Kevin Volland and Ermin Bicakcic both carrying knocks.
Granit Xhaka is the only player Favre cannot count on this weekend.
