Tranmere defender Michael Ihiekwe went from zero to hero netting an equaliser in the last minute of added time as Tranmere salvaged a 2-2 draw against Stevenage.

The 21-year-old gifted Stevenage the lead after deflecting Charlie Adams' cross into his own net in the 14th minute but had the last laugh six minutes into injury-time.

New Stevenage striker Lee Barnard made it 2-0 just after the hour but fellow loanee Dale Jennings started the Tranmere comeback moments later and Ihiekwe completed it late on.

Stevenage took the lead against the run of play as Ihiekwe inadvertently deflected Adams' cross home before the Boro midfielder saw a deflected centre hit the post shortly after.

Danny Johnson shot over from a free-kick for the hosts before the interval but 19 minutes into the second half Barnard doubled the lead after latching onto Chris Day's long ball.

Jennings smashed in from the edge of the area almost immediately after, Boro failing to fully clear a corner, before Armand Gnanduillet nodded down for Ihiekwe for the equaliser.
